About Devon Wilson
Devon Wilson is the Founder and Lead Instructor of Marine Water Confidence Training, LLC (MWCT). A former United States Marine with 8 years of honorable service (5 years active duty and 3 years in the reserves), Wilson brings an elite level of military water survival training to the civilian world — something rarely accessible outside of the Marine Corps.
Wilson earned the prestigious title of Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival (MCIWS), the highest aquatic instructor qualification in the Marine Corps. He also became a certified Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) Instructor — a combination almost unheard of due to the intensity and specialization required for each field. Throughout his military
career, he trained and certified over 600 Marines, preparing many for deployment and conducting water survival and combat-conditioning training while deployed overseas.
His instruction focused on more than technique — it developed discipline, composure under pressure, and the mental toughness required to survive in life-threatening aquatic environments. Wilson has personally experienced how proper training, confidence, and the ability to stay calm in the water can save a life — as it once saved his own.
After completing active duty, Wilson transitioned into a successful engineering career and relocated to South Florida, continuing to serve in the Marine Corps Reserves until recently. Although his career shifted, his passion for teaching, mentorship, and life-saving water instruction never left.
Wilson founded Marine Water Confidence Training (MWCT) to bring the mindset, standards, and transformative training of the Marine Corps to the community. His mission is to help individuals — from beginners and families to athletes, first responders, and future service members — develop confidence, calm, and capability in the water, and to prepare them for real-world stress, adversity, and survival.
Through MWCT, Wilson provides a unique training experience that blends military-tested skills with accessible coaching for civilians. His programs focus on:
• Water confidence & survival skills
• Calmness and control under stress
• Safety, rescue skills, and preparedness
• Strength, discipline, and mindset development
Wilson’s belief is simple: confidence in the water can save lives — and can change lives. MWCT was built to make that confidence accessible to everyone.
